Sukanya Krishnan Leaves CBS 2

Brian tells me that, according to a post on a television news-related message board, Sukanya Krishnan decided to leave the station. Sukanya's bio on cbsnewyork.com has been removed from the main list. Sukanya joined CBS 2 in June 1997 and worked as a General Assignment reporter. According to her bio, "Sukanya has received various community and service awards. She is the first Indian woman to be working in the New York market at a local network affiliate. Sukanya Krishnan was born in Madras, India. She grew up on Staten Island and graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. Sukanya is fluent in Tamil and Spanish. She lives in Manhattan with her husband."

The Big Snow Storm is Almost Here!

This evening "The Weekend News" came on the air at 6:30. Vince DeMentri and Amanda Grove were live in Studio 59A, the first time CBS 2's weekend newscast was in that studio (The Weekend News has always been from 59B since early last year). Team coverage of the big snow storm headed our way started off the newscast. Aimee Nuzzo reported from New Jersey and Sukanya Krishnan reported from New York. Craig Allen was in the studio with the forecast. And at the end of the newscast, it was announced that an extended edition of "Nightcast" would begin at 11:15pm (delayed fifteen minutes because of a CBS primetime movie). "The News This Morning" will start off tomorrow morning at 4:00, adding an additional hour to the newscast.

This morning, the two-hour special Storm Watch report began at 7:00, and the anchors were Michael Pomeranz and Cindy Hsu. David Rogers was on the roof of the Broadcast Center, and Ira Joe Fisher was live inside the studio with the forecast. Carrie Lee was live at the Metro Traffic Center, and the reporters were Jennifer McLogan (in Garden City), Aimee Nuzzo (in Paramus), and Sukanya Krishnan (at LaGuardia Airport). Another special report at 11:00am on CBS 2.

NEWS 2 Last Week and This Week

-It was originally planned that Tiki Barber, the 24-year-old New York Giants running back, would join NEWS 2 This Morning as a morning sportscaster Wednesday, March 1st. He actually began the next day, Thursday, March 2nd. So far, NEWS 2 This Morning has not yet had a new opening with Tiki Barber it in, but I expect them to add him soon, maybe tomorrow morning! Stay tuned!
-Also on Thursday, NEWS 2 at 4:00 had special guest Hillary Clinton, who is the New York State Senate candidate. NEWS 2 political reporter Marcia Kramer interview the First Lady for two segments (interview, commercial, interview)! There was also a special "FIRST AT 4:00 NEWS 2" logo on the bottom-left of the screen.
-Friday, Cindy Hsu announced that all this week, Sukanya Krishnan will be filling in for her for NEWS 2 This Morning, because Cindy Hsu will be filling in for Lisa Hill all this week on NEWS 2 at 5:00.
