Former Reporter Wins Long Island Election

Trish Bergin, who reported for WCBS-TV in the late '90s, won an election yesterday to Islip Town Council in Suffolk County. According to, she received the most votes out of the four candidates for the two-seat election (though, as of this post, that is not Bergin who is in that picture). She ran as an independent but was also listed on the Republican and Conservative ballots.

Bergin was a second Long Island reporter on "News 2" from March 1997 - December 1998. During the "More News in Less Time, Every Time" era, she often reported live from the station's Long Island bureau in Uniondale during the morning newscasts. Most recently, she reported and anchored for News 12 Long Island.
