Rosenfield to Leave CBS 2 News

Jim Rosenfield is leaving CBS 2 News after Thursday, according to the Daily News. The paper says it is part of the recent budget cuts. So far, there is no official word as to who will replace him. Post your guesses here.

Rosenfield has been with CBS 2 since June 1, 2005 when he replaced Ernie Anastos as Roz Abrams' co-anchor at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. He had previously served as Sue Simmons' co-anchor on "Live at Five" until March 4, 2005. His hiring came as Dennis Swanson, who headed what was then known as the Viacom Television Stations Group, and news director Dianne Doctor were in the process of bringing many people, both on-air and off, with them from NBC 4. When every newscast lineup was shuffled on April 10, 2006, Rosenfield became anchor of the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts with Dana Tyler. Since June 25th, he and Tyler have anchored the noon and 6 p.m. newscasts.

His first stint at CBS 2 began in October 1998 when he joined to anchor the noon news with Cindy Hsu and at 6:00 with Lisa Cooley. On January 24, 2000, he and Lisa Hill moved to 5:00 as the station launched "News 2 at 4:00." He anchored his last newscast on April 11th of that year, leaving the station after being let out of his contract when he and new news director Joel Cheatwood were unable to reach a deal about a new assignment.

Sorry to see Jim leave... Dana and Jim have excellent chemistry and made great team at 6 and 11 before being replaced at 11 by Chris and Kristine.

As far as a replacement, my pick would be Cindy Hsu, who needs to be anchoring again on CBS 2. However, I know that this will not happen... most likely they will go with either Dahler or Bartelstein. Of these 2, I would choose Bartelstein.

I would say Bartelstein, because I heard management say that once he gets better, he'll be considered for weekday shifts. I would also like to see Cindy Hsu anchoring again. I like her, as well.

I am so disappointed to hear that Jim will be leaving. Yet again another of CBS2 strongest team will be splitting apart. Dana and Jim had such great chemistry and that is why I watch CBS2. I dont think management likes Cindy Hsu so I think Bartelstein should also get Jim's position. Dana and Don have zero chemistry and he is too stiff.

Jim Rosenfield is a great anchor on CBS 2 and it would be a shame if one of the weekend anchors replaced him. My guess would be Maurice DuBois, as he is the only good choice for the evening news. If not Maurice, Steve Bartelstein, but NOT DON DAHLER!!!

I think it should be Don. He's really grown on me and I disagree that he's stiff - he and Mary make a great team on the weekends. Very comfortable and likeable. No reason he can't have the same chemistry with Dana. PLus, he's got tons of network experiece he brings to the job. Go Don!

Why is it whenever anyone new comes to a station, people feel obliged to say nasty things about them? I work with Don and he's the hardest working, nicest, smartest person I've met in a long time. He's anything but stiff. He deserves the job, but more than that, he'll be great in it.

Well it looks like the morning team is staying the same... I just saw a brand new promo for Kate and Maurice that is similar to the Chris and Kristine promo that started airing recently. Now we know that Maurice definitely will not be returning to CBS 2 News at Noon and 6 to replace Jim

I was thinking maybe Kirstin Cole. She used to anchor weekends, and I enjoy her consumer stories. I think it would be cool to have a two-woman anchor team at WCBS. Of course, no two-woman anchor team can hold a candle to Diana and Sade at WABC.

Don Dahler is fantastic! I can't believe anyone would say he's stiff! I think he's handsome and very real on TV.

Only the best to Jim. I'm very disappointed to see him go, too. He is certainly a class act. Major bad, CBS2 management. You've lost yet another good one. That being said, as far as another anchor (there's not another Jim!), I'd definitely pick Don. I don't think he's stiff at all, and he does a great job weekend eves. I really like Steve, and although I do think he'd be good on the noon, I'd rather see Don do both noon and 6. But good luck to whomever is chosen.

I hope its not Don Dahler. He have this way in tilting his head at an angle. He looks so uncomfortable at the anchor desk. He is dull.

I hope they promote Megan Glaros. She's as hot as they come! Ratings will go through the roof for sure.

I think Jim's replacement should be Steve Bartelstein. Because I have watched him a couple of times anchoring with Dana Tyler and the chemistry was wonderful. Also, Steve has a wonderful personality and the newscasts become more interesting to watch with him. Steve has a away of keeping viewers engaged to their tubes not wanting to change the channel to other news stations.

Hmmm, let's put Chris Wragge in the noon and 6pm slot too. He doesn't have enough exposure...NOT!!!

I have a better idea, move Chris Wragge to full time at CBS News. Send Kristine packing to care for her children. After those parody of anchors leave then I will watch again.

Jim Rosenfield is a class act. A guess for replacement would be Steve Bartelstein. He has charisma,
and some life to him!

I think we should give whoever is chosen a chance. People on these message boards can be pretty harsh. Both Steve and Don are very good and I think either of them will be great with Dana. Steve has the name recognition in this market and Don has the vast experience of a network correspondent. Both men deserve respect no matter who's chosen.
